FDA To Create Database for Tracking Foodborne BacteriaReporting Technology’s Impact on Healthcare

FDA is working with the University of California-Davis, CDC and Agilent Technologies to develop a public database to catalog the genetic codes of 100,000 types of bacteria that cause foodborne illness. Scientists could use the database to quickly identify what food carries the bacteria responsible for a given outbreak and where the outbreak originated. Wall Street Journal et al.
